Barangay Loyola

Situated in Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur, Barangay Loyola is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Loyola had a population of 3,335. This made it the 3rd largest of 24 barangays in Hinatuan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Loyola accounted for approximately 7.61% of the total population of Hinatuan, which stood at 43,841 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,641 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,335 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +26.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Loyola as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hinatuan is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Loyola, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
