Barangay Himokilan Island

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Himokilan Island is one of the administrative divisions of Hindang in Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Himokilan Island had a population of 523. This made it the 15th largest of 20 barangays in Hindang by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Himokilan Island accounted for approximately 2.51% of the total population of Hindang, which stood at 20,849 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Himokilan Island changed from 525 to 523, a shift of -0.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in Hindang. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Himokilan Island as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hindang is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Himokilan Island, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Himokilan Island ranks 1130th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
