Barangay Maasin

Situated in Hindang, Leyte, Barangay Maasin is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Maasin had a population of 1,458. This made it the 6th largest of 20 barangays in Hindang by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maasin accounted for approximately 6.99% of the total population of Hindang, which stood at 20,849 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Maasin moving from 1,447 residents to 1,458 residents, an intercensal change of +0.8%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Maasin as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hindang is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maasin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
