Barangay Poblacion 1

Barangay Poblacion 1 is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Hindang, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion 1 had a population of 2,723. This made it the 1st largest of 20 barangays in Hindang by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion 1 accounted for approximately 13.06% of the total population of Hindang, which stood at 20,849 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion 1 moving from 2,791 residents to 2,723 residents, an intercensal change of -2.4%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Poblacion 1 is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Hindang is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion 1, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion 1 ranks 114th by 2020 population.
