Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a mid-sized barangay in the city of Island Garden City of Samal, located in the province of Davao Del Norte, in the Davao Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 4,623. This made it the 4th largest of 46 barangays in Island Garden City of Samal by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 3.96% of the total population of Island Garden City of Samal, which stood at 116,771 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 3,983 to 4,623, a shift of +16.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Island Garden City of Samal. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Island Garden City of Samal is a city comprising 46 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Del Norte, which contains 223 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 63rd by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
