Barangay Aglobong

Situated in Janiuay, Iloilo, Barangay Aglobong is one of 60 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Aglobong had a population of 787. This made it the 42nd largest of 60 barangays in Janiuay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Aglobong accounted for approximately 1.18% of the total population of Janiuay, which stood at 66,786 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 936 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 787 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -15.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Aglobong as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Janiuay is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Aglobong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Aglobong ranks 972nd by 2020 population. Iloilo is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
