Barangay Barasalon

Barangay Barasalon is a small barangay in the municipality of Janiuay, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Barasalon had a population of 1,516. This made it the 14th largest of 60 barangays in Janiuay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Barasalon accounted for approximately 2.27% of the total population of Janiuay, which stood at 66,786 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Barasalon moving from 1,672 residents to 1,516 residents, an intercensal change of -9.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Barasalon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Janiuay is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Barasalon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
