Barangay San Miguel

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay San Miguel is one of the administrative divisions of Jiabong in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Miguel had a population of 163. This made it the 34th largest of 34 barangays in Jiabong by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Miguel accounted for approximately 0.85% of the total population of Jiabong, which stood at 19,205 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 142 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 163 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +14.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Miguel as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Jiabong is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Miguel, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
