Situated in Jose Dalman, Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Tamil is one of 18 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tamil had a population of 2,429. This made it the 4th largest of 18 barangays in Jose Dalman by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tamil accounted for approximately 8.41% of the total population of Jose Dalman, which stood at 28,881 in the same census year.
