Situated in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Barangay Tigbangagan is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

This made it the 17th largest of 29 barangays in Kabasalan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tigbangagan accounted for approximately 3.01% of the total population of Kabasalan, which stood at 46,884 in the same census year.
