Barangay Andagaw

Barangay Andagaw is a very large barangay in the municipality of Kalibo, located in the province of Aklan, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Andagaw had a population of 15,404. This made it the 1st largest of 16 barangays in Kalibo by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Andagaw accounted for approximately 17.28% of the total population of Kalibo, which stood at 89,127 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Andagaw changed from 12,703 to 15,404, a shift of +21.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Kalibo. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Andagaw as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Kalibo is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Andagaw, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Aklan, which contains 327 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Andagaw ranks 2nd by 2020 population. Aklan is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Andagaw is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
