Barangay Salakit

Barangay Salakit is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Kiamba, located in the province of Sarangani, in the SOCCSKSARGEN region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Salakit had a population of 2,156. This made it the 13th largest of 19 barangays in Kiamba by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Salakit accounted for approximately 3.28% of the total population of Kiamba, which stood at 65,774 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Salakit moving from 2,063 residents to 2,156 residents, an intercensal change of +4.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Salakit as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Kiamba is a municipality comprising 19 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Salakit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sarangani, which contains 141 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Salakit ranks 99th by 2020 population.
