Barangay Lower Maculan

Barangay Lower Maculan forms part of Lake Sebu, a municipality in South Cotabato, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Lower Maculan had a population of 1,568. This made it the 18th largest of 19 barangays in Lake Sebu by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lower Maculan accounted for approximately 1.93% of the total population of Lake Sebu, which stood at 81,221 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,781 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,568 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -12.0%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Lower Maculan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lake Sebu is a municipality comprising 19 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lower Maculan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of South Cotabato, which contains 225 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Lower Maculan ranks 183rd by 2020 population.
