Barangay Sag-od

Situated in Las Navas, Northern Samar, Barangay Sag-od is one of 53 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sag-od had a population of 195. This made it the 52nd largest of 53 barangays in Las Navas by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sag-od accounted for approximately 0.53% of the total population of Las Navas, which stood at 36,621 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Sag-od changed from 256 to 195, a shift of -23.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Las Navas. Barangay Sag-od is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Las Navas is a municipality comprising 53 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sag-od, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sag-od ranks 552nd by 2020 population. Barangay Sag-od is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
