Barangay Cagamutan Sur

Barangay Cagamutan Sur forms part of Leganes, a municipality in Iloilo, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cagamutan Sur had a population of 1,992. This made it the 10th largest of 18 barangays in Leganes by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cagamutan Sur accounted for approximately 5.74% of the total population of Leganes, which stood at 34,725 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,187 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,992 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -8.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cagamutan Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leganes is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cagamutan Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
