Barangay Gerongan

Barangay Gerongan is a small barangay in the municipality of Lemery, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gerongan had a population of 1,016. This made it the 14th largest of 31 barangays in Lemery by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gerongan accounted for approximately 3.23% of the total population of Lemery, which stood at 31,414 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Gerongan moving from 960 residents to 1,016 residents, an intercensal change of +5.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Gerongan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
