Barangay Malangsa

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Malangsa is one of the administrative divisions of Liloan in Southern Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malangsa had a population of 486. This made it the 20th largest of 24 barangays in Liloan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malangsa accounted for approximately 1.96% of the total population of Liloan, which stood at 24,800 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malangsa moving from 563 residents to 486 residents, an intercensal change of -13.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Malangsa is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Liloan is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malangsa, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
