Barangay Binakas

Situated in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro, Barangay Binakas is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Binakas had a population of 1,096. This made it the 7th largest of 16 barangays in Lubang by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Binakas accounted for approximately 6.29% of the total population of Lubang, which stood at 17,437 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Binakas moving from 1,162 residents to 1,096 residents, an intercensal change of -5.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Binakas is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lubang is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Binakas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Occidental Mindoro, which contains 164 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Binakas ranks 125th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
