Barangay Polantuna

Situated in Lupi, Camarines Sur, Barangay Polantuna is one of 38 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Polantuna had a population of 685. This made it the 21st largest of 38 barangays in Lupi by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Polantuna accounted for approximately 2.02% of the total population of Lupi, which stood at 33,897 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 677 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 685 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.2%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Polantuna is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Lupi is a municipality comprising 38 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Polantuna, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Camarines Sur, which contains 1,063 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Polantuna ranks 900th by 2020 population. Barangay Polantuna is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
