Barangay Jao-asan

Barangay Jao-asan is a small barangay in the municipality of Magdiwang, located in the province of Romblon, in the MIMAROPA Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Jao-asan had a population of 1,175. This made it the 7th largest of 9 barangays in Magdiwang by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Jao-asan accounted for approximately 7.64% of the total population of Magdiwang, which stood at 15,385 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Jao-asan changed from 964 to 1,175, a shift of +21.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Magdiwang. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Jao-asan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Magdiwang is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Jao-asan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
