Barangay Cayangwan

Barangay Cayangwan forms part of Makato, a municipality in Aklan, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cayangwan had a population of 2,069. This made it the 7th largest of 18 barangays in Makato by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cayangwan accounted for approximately 6.96% of the total population of Makato, which stood at 29,717 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cayangwan moving from 2,125 residents to 2,069 residents, an intercensal change of -2.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cayangwan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Makato is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cayangwan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
