Barangay Manoc-Manoc

Barangay Manoc-Manoc is a very large barangay in the municipality of Malay, located in the province of Aklan, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Manoc-Manoc had a population of 20,504. This made it the 1st largest of 17 barangays in Malay by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Manoc-Manoc accounted for approximately 34.13% of the total population of Malay, which stood at 60,077 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Manoc-Manoc changed from 14,810 to 20,504, a shift of +38.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Malay. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Manoc-Manoc as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Malay is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Manoc-Manoc, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Aklan, which contains 327 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Manoc-Manoc ranks 1st by 2020 population. Aklan is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
