Barangay Sumalsag

Situated in Malitbog, Bukidnon, Barangay Sumalsag is one of 11 barangays that make up the municipality within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sumalsag had a population of 1,002. This made it the 11th largest of 11 barangays in Malitbog by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sumalsag accounted for approximately 3.75% of the total population of Malitbog, which stood at 26,741 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Sumalsag moving from 854 residents to 1,002 residents, an intercensal change of +17.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sumalsag as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malitbog is a municipality comprising 11 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sumalsag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
