Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Malvar in Batangas, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 8,803. This made it the 1st largest of 15 barangays in Malvar by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 13.67% of the total population of Malvar, which stood at 64,379 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 7,632 to 8,803, a shift of +15.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Malvar. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Malvar is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Batangas, which contains 1,078 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 35th by 2020 population.
