Barangay Mararag

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Mararag is one of the administrative divisions of Marihatag in Surigao Del Sur, Caraga, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Mararag had a population of 2,391. This made it the 2nd largest of 12 barangays in Marihatag by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mararag accounted for approximately 12.30% of the total population of Marihatag, which stood at 19,441 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Mararag moving from 2,252 residents to 2,391 residents, an intercensal change of +6.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Mararag as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
