Barangay Patubig forms part of Marilao, a municipality in Bulacan, and is classified as a large barangay.

This made it the 11th largest of 16 barangays in Marilao by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Patubig accounted for approximately 3.31% of the total population of Marilao, which stood at 254,453 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Patubig moving from 7,501 residents to 8,419 residents, an intercensal change of +12.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Patubig as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Marilao is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Patubig, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
