Barangay Hitoog

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Hitoog is one of the administrative divisions of Matalom in Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Hitoog had a population of 798. This made it the 21st largest of 30 barangays in Matalom by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Hitoog accounted for approximately 2.45% of the total population of Matalom, which stood at 32,586 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Hitoog moving from 752 residents to 798 residents, an intercensal change of +6.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Hitoog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
