Barangay Asinan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Asinan is one of the administrative divisions of Matanao in Davao Del Sur, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Asinan had a population of 885. This made it the 26th largest of 33 barangays in Matanao by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Asinan accounted for approximately 1.46% of the total population of Matanao, which stood at 60,493 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Asinan moving from 610 residents to 885 residents, an intercensal change of +45.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Asinan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Matanao is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Asinan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Del Sur, which contains 414 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Asinan ranks 194th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
