Barangay Matalngon

Barangay Matalngon is a very small barangay in the municipality of Miagao, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Matalngon had a population of 136. This made it the 116th largest of 119 barangays in Miagao by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matalngon accounted for approximately 0.20% of the total population of Miagao, which stood at 68,115 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Matalngon moving from 161 residents to 136 residents, an intercensal change of -15.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Matalngon as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Miagao is a municipality comprising 119 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matalngon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
