Barangay Luyong Catungan

Barangay Luyong Catungan is a small barangay in the municipality of Mobo, located in the province of Masbate, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Luyong Catungan had a population of 1,109. This made it the 16th largest of 29 barangays in Mobo by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Luyong Catungan accounted for approximately 2.72% of the total population of Mobo, which stood at 40,823 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Luyong Catungan changed from 971 to 1,109, a shift of +14.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Mobo. Barangay Luyong Catungan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mobo is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Luyong Catungan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
