Barangay Buenafortuna

Barangay Buenafortuna forms part of Nabas, a municipality in Aklan, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Buenafortuna had a population of 1,389. This made it the 15th largest of 20 barangays in Nabas by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Buenafortuna accounted for approximately 3.42% of the total population of Nabas, which stood at 40,632 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,262 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,389 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Buenafortuna as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Nabas is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Buenafortuna, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Aklan, which contains 327 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Buenafortuna ranks 170th by 2020 population.
