Barangay Ambaracao Sur

Barangay Ambaracao Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Naguilian, located in the province of La Union, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Ambaracao Sur had a population of 807. This made it the 35th largest of 37 barangays in Naguilian by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Ambaracao Sur accounted for approximately 1.55% of the total population of Naguilian, which stood at 52,189 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Ambaracao Sur moving from 1,023 residents to 807 residents, an intercensal change of -21.1%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Ambaracao Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
