Barangay Bancagan

Situated in Naguilian, La Union, Barangay Bancagan is one of 37 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bancagan had a population of 1,150. This made it the 20th largest of 37 barangays in Naguilian by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bancagan accounted for approximately 2.20% of the total population of Naguilian, which stood at 52,189 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bancagan moving from 1,271 residents to 1,150 residents, an intercensal change of -9.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bancagan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
