Barangay New Panay

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay New Panay is one of the administrative divisions of Pigkawayan in Cotabato, SOCCSKSARGEN, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay New Panay had a population of 1,136. This made it the 23rd largest of 40 barangays in Pigkawayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay New Panay accounted for approximately 1.57% of the total population of Pigkawayan, which stood at 72,371 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,139 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,136 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.3%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay New Panay as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pigkawayan is a municipality comprising 40 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay New Panay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cotabato, which contains 543 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay New Panay ranks 394th by 2020 population.
