Barangay Liguac

Situated in Pitogo, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Liguac is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Liguac had a population of 788. This made it the 13th largest of 15 barangays in Pitogo by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Liguac accounted for approximately 2.86% of the total population of Pitogo, which stood at 27,516 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Liguac moving from 920 residents to 788 residents, an intercensal change of -14.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Liguac is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
