Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Pitogo in Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 8,368. This made it the 1st largest of 15 barangays in Pitogo by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 30.41% of the total population of Pitogo, which stood at 27,516 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 7,836 residents to 8,368 residents, an intercensal change of +6.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Pitogo is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
