Barangay Buenavista Gibong

Barangay Buenavista Gibong is a small barangay in the municipality of Pontevedra, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Buenavista Gibong had a population of 928. This made it the 17th largest of 20 barangays in Pontevedra by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Buenavista Gibong accounted for approximately 1.70% of the total population of Pontevedra, which stood at 54,502 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 874 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 928 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Buenavista Gibong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pontevedra is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Buenavista Gibong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
