Barangay Bailan

Situated in Pontevedra, Capiz, Barangay Bailan is one of 26 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bailan had a population of 2,816. This made it the 5th largest of 26 barangays in Pontevedra by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bailan accounted for approximately 5.66% of the total population of Pontevedra, which stood at 49,725 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bailan changed from 2,800 to 2,816, a shift of +0.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Pontevedra. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bailan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pontevedra is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bailan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Capiz, which contains 473 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bailan ranks 55th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
