Barangay Malag-it

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Malag-it is one of the administrative divisions of Pontevedra in Capiz, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Malag-it had a population of 2,230. This made it the 9th largest of 26 barangays in Pontevedra by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malag-it accounted for approximately 4.48% of the total population of Pontevedra, which stood at 49,725 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malag-it moving from 2,293 residents to 2,230 residents, an intercensal change of -2.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malag-it as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Pontevedra is a municipality comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malag-it, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
