Situated in Quezon, Bukidnon, Barangay Palacapao is one of 31 barangays that make up the municipality within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Palacapao had a population of 3,272. This made it the 10th largest of 31 barangays in Quezon by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Palacapao accounted for approximately 2.98% of the total population of Quezon, which stood at 109,624 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Palacapao changed from 2,899 to 3,272, a shift of +12.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Quezon. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Palacapao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
