Barangay Lower Sambulawan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Lower Sambulawan is one of the administrative divisions of Ramon Magsaysay in Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Lower Sambulawan had a population of 539. This made it the 24th largest of 27 barangays in Ramon Magsaysay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lower Sambulawan accounted for approximately 1.98% of the total population of Ramon Magsaysay, which stood at 27,280 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 507 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 539 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Lower Sambulawan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Ramon Magsaysay is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lower Sambulawan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
