Barangay Morocborocan

Barangay Morocborocan forms part of Rapu-Rapu, a municipality in Albay, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Morocborocan had a population of 1,023. This made it the 13th largest of 34 barangays in Rapu-Rapu by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Morocborocan accounted for approximately 2.83% of the total population of Rapu-Rapu, which stood at 36,151 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 929 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,023 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Morocborocan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Rapu-Rapu is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Morocborocan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Albay, which contains 720 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Morocborocan ranks 491st by 2020 population.
