Barangay Gaggabutan West

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Gaggabutan West is one of the administrative divisions of Rizal in Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gaggabutan West had a population of 1,459. This made it the 1st largest of 29 barangays in Rizal by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gaggabutan West accounted for approximately 7.65% of the total population of Rizal, which stood at 19,077 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,283 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,459 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +13.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Gaggabutan West as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Rizal is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gaggabutan West, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
