Barangay Chavayan

Situated in Sabtang, Batanes, Barangay Chavayan is one of 6 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Chavayan had a population of 161. This made it the 5th largest of 6 barangays in Sabtang by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Chavayan accounted for approximately 9.49% of the total population of Sabtang, which stood at 1,696 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Chavayan changed from 157 to 161, a shift of +2.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Sabtang. Barangay Chavayan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
