Situated in Salug, Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Poblacion East is one of 23 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

This made it the 1st largest of 23 barangays in Salug by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion East accounted for approximately 11.07% of the total population of Salug, which stood at 32,134 in the same census year.
