Barangay Tugtug

Barangay Tugtug is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of San Jose, located in the province of Batangas, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tugtug had a population of 2,323. This made it the 15th largest of 33 barangays in San Jose by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tugtug accounted for approximately 2.91% of the total population of San Jose, which stood at 79,868 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tugtug moving from 1,765 residents to 2,323 residents, an intercensal change of +31.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Tugtug is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Jose is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tugtug, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
