Barangay Can-aponte

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Can-aponte is one of the administrative divisions of San Jose De Buan in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Can-aponte had a population of 532. This made it the 4th largest of 14 barangays in San Jose De Buan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Can-aponte accounted for approximately 6.85% of the total population of San Jose De Buan, which stood at 7,767 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Can-aponte moving from 611 residents to 532 residents, an intercensal change of -12.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Can-aponte as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Jose De Buan is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Can-aponte, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
