Barangay Hibaca-an

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Hibaca-an is one of the administrative divisions of San Jose De Buan in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hibaca-an had a population of 443. This made it the 5th largest of 14 barangays in San Jose De Buan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Hibaca-an accounted for approximately 5.70% of the total population of San Jose De Buan, which stood at 7,767 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 361 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 443 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +22.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Hibaca-an is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Jose De Buan is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hibaca-an, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
