Barangay Caranoche

Barangay Caranoche is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Santa Catalina, located in the province of Negros Oriental, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Caranoche had a population of 4,319. This made it the 7th largest of 22 barangays in Santa Catalina by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Caranoche accounted for approximately 5.57% of the total population of Santa Catalina, which stood at 77,501 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Caranoche changed from 4,056 to 4,319, a shift of +6.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Santa Catalina. Barangay Caranoche is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Catalina is a municipality comprising 22 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Caranoche, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Caranoche ranks 83rd by 2020 population.
