Barangay Imelda

Barangay Imelda is a small barangay in the municipality of Santa Marcela, located in the province of Apayao, in the CAR region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Imelda had a population of 927. This made it the 7th largest of 13 barangays in Santa Marcela by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Imelda accounted for approximately 6.96% of the total population of Santa Marcela, which stood at 13,317 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Imelda moving from 978 residents to 927 residents, an intercensal change of -5.2%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Imelda as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
